I got a great Ask Angie question: What is the best cruise line for family trips with all different ages? What works best for extended family groups?
As a travel agent, this type of trip is one of my specialties. I really enjoy figuring out how to make everyone happy.
I’ve noticed a few scenarios that tend to work best:
A great suite class and lots of kids activities. This works well for families where the older folks are used to higher end, more luxurious accommodations, but the younger folks want things to do. I explain in the video why I think Norwegian Cruises Lines does this best with The Haven on their Breakaway class ships.
A great mix of adults only and kids only spaces. This works well for families with a mix of adult children with and without kids. I explain in the video why I think Disney Cruise Line does this best.
A lot for families to do together. One complaint about Disney Cruise Line is “we never see the kids”. I explain how Royal Caribbean ships - especially the larger ships - have a lot for families to do together.
A great educational experience. Some families want this to be a learning experience in addition to a vacation. This works well if you are visiting somewhere like Alaska, the Panama Canal, or Europe. I explain why I think Princess is the best choice for this type of vacation.
A unique adventure. If your family kayaks or paddle boards together, then Uncruise is a great choice for extended family trip.
