Now is the best time to book 2023 Alaska cruises
Did you know over half all cruise cabins sailing to Alaska next summer will be booked by the end of this year?
This is the time of year families start to discuss their 2023 family vacation plans. Alaska is a popular choice for extended family vacations.
Alaska is my favorite place to cruise and I love helping travelers plan their Alaska travels. You can email Angie@Tripswithangie.com to get started.
You have several options for your Alaskan adventure. The first decision is if you want cruise or land or both.
Cruises explore the inside passage. This is the part of Alaska that runs along the western coast of Canada. It’s circled in red below. This is a better fit if you want to see whales, glaciers, and the state capitol. You'll also find more kayaking tours.
You can also choose to fly to Alaska and explore on land. Anchorage, Seward, Talkeetna and Denali National Park are popular options. This is a better fit if you want to go hiking, salmon fishing, rafting, and land based wildlife sighting. Cruises generally only sail between April - September. This means a land based trip is the only option over the winter.
If you want to do both, you can book a one way cruise between Seattle or Vancouver and Whittier or Seward, Alaska. For the land portion, you can:
Join an escorted tour. You can read about my experience on a Princess Alaska Cruise Tour by clicking here.
Independently explore. I can prepare a custom itinerary for you and your group. You can use the Alaska train system or rent a car to explore the interior of Alaska based on your individual sightseeing wish list.
For cruises, you have three main options:
Expedition - These are small ships that focus on exploration. Cabins and dining are simple and efficient. The daily schedule is dictated by current conditions. The day usually includes kayaking or taking a zodiac to shore to hike. To give you an idea of an expedition ship, here’s a tour of Hurtigruten’s MS Fram:
Luxury - Smaller ships with more amenities, spacious cabins and higher end dining. To give you an idea of a luxury ship, here’s a tour of the Seabourn Odyssey:
Premium - These are large ocean going ships with casinos, kids’ clubs, shows, many different cabin options. This is what most people think of when you think of a cruise ship.
The Norwegian Encore is a good example of one of the larger Premium ships:
The Emerald Princess is a good example of the mid-size Premium ships.
I help you navigate all these choices to craft the best Alaska itinerary for your wish list and your wallet. Email Angie@TripswithAngie.com to get started.
