Amber Cove is located in the Dominican Republic near Puerto Plata.
Amber Cove Cruise Center is a large complex right as you walk off the ship. It can accommodate up to two ships and 8,000 passengers. In this video, I share a tour of the pool area, shopping complex, the waterfall, and some secret areas to relax in the shade while your friends are shopping.
Carnival and Princess ships stop frequently at this port. It can accommodate up to two ships and 8,000 passengers.
Bike rickshaws are available for a tip to get from the ship to the shore. We tip at least $5 per person each way.
Amber Cove Cruise Center has a large pool area available for all guests. You’ll also find water slides. You can pay to ride a zip line down from the Sky Bar over the pool. You can rent kayaks and paddleboards.
Coco Cana is the restaurant and swim up bar right next to the pool. They will deliver food to your lounge chair. Sky Bar serves a similar menu with great view of the cruise port from the top of the hill.
A popular excursion is to rent a cabana. There are 4 types of Cabanas for you to choose from:
Ocean Cabanas (8 guest max.)
Pooloside Cabanas (8 guest max.)
Hillside Cabanas (8 guest max.)
Grand Cabana (20 guest max.)
Each cabana includes lounge chairs, floats, outdoor showers and waiter service. Zipline tickets are included with your rental for all guests.
The Hillside cabanas and the Grand Cabana have Jacuzzis.
Ocean Cabanas have cable TV, showers, tables and chairs and the easiest access if anyone in your party has mobility challenges.
You book the cabanas through your cruise line.
Amber Cove does not have a beach. The nearest beach to the Amber Cove Cruise Center is Maimon - a 15 minute walk from the pier. I found this great video from another vlogger on how to get there:
I enjoy hanging out by the pool here.
