Hello!
We just returned last week from an 11 night sailing to Maine and Canada on the Celebrity Summit. Take a look around:
Now, to my review:
Cabin: 7/10
I generally like the design of the balcony cabins on this class of Celebrity ship. I like the glass door in the bathroom. The shower is a good size. The bathroom is efficient. The cabin has a deceiving amount of storage. Walking in, I thought there wouldn’t be enough, but I was pleasantly surprised. The balcony is a large and I loved that it was sheltered o a colder weather sailing. The deductions are because it is worn out. The carpeting was worn. The balcony had quite a bit of rust. The shower drain was slow.
Ship Condition: 7/10
The ship’s condition matched the cabin. You could tell it’s been a while since the ship was refreshed. They did close all the whirlpools and pools during our sailing to work on them. It looked like they were refreshing the caulk and parts around the top of the whirlpools.
Casual Dining: 7/10
I have a very similar critique to what I shared in my review of the Celebrity Edge. Celebrity just doesn’t do a great job with casual dining. We had issues with food on the buffet being cold. The best options for casual dining are the stations with made to order food: pizza, pasta, salads, and sandwiches. The Asia section of the buffet is very good. I did notice a big afternoon in afternoon snacks. Cheese, crackers, and salads were always available. They offered a little tea time with small sandwiches and scones around 3:00 pm.
Sit Down Dining: 8/10
Our service team was terrific. The food was always the proper temperature. Some guests found the menu a little big challenging. I think they’d loved to see more chicken or turkey dishes. I really enjoyed the pasta offerings.
Entertainment 9/10
The entertainment was great. All the live music was very good. The Entertainment Director had a great show each night around 10:30 pm in the Sky Lounge. Sometimes it was the guest performer offering an extra show or the production cast kicking off a dance party. The lectures were terrific. It was a great line up. I deducted a point because it was a lot of guest singers. I’d love to just see a show with the incredible acrobats.
Service: 10/10
I can’t think of one moment of poor or inattentive service.
Value: 8/10
In my opinion, Celebrity prices a little high.
Overall: 8/10
The overall ship condition and issues with casual dining really bring down the score. I still highly recommend this ship. I’ve sailed it more than any other ship in my over 80 cruises. The service is always friendly and top notch.
